George Licurici was born on 23rd April1956 in Roman town, Romania. He graduated at the Polytechnic Institute – Iasi University in 1981. His profession is BCS Engineer and is working as a residential, industrial and commercial real estate appraiser. George Licurici made his debut in cartooning in March 1985. His cartoons have been published in periodicals in Romania and abroad. He presented his cartoons at solo exhibitions in Costinesti, Suceava, Bucharest and more than 200 collective exhibitions in Romania and abroad. George Licurici participated at International cartoon contests and his works have been awarded over 20 prizes and distinctions: 1995 – Aksehir (Turkey), 1996 – Omiya (Japan), 1998 – Davenport (USA), 2003 – Tolentino (Italy), 2006 – Porto (Portugal), 2007 – Alanya (Turkey), 2007 – Gallarate (Italy), 2008 – Istanbul (Turkey), 2008 – Bursa (Turkey), 2009 – Baku (Azerbaijan); 2009 – Barakaldo (Spain); 2010 – Berlin (Germany); 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 – Daejon (South Korea); 2011 – Gura Humorului (Romania); 2011 – Yeni Bogazici (Northern Cyprus), 2011 – Beijing (China), 2012 – Kiev (Ukraine), 2012 – Trento (Italy), 2012 – Haifa (Israel), 2012 – Vitoria (Spain); 2013 – Stuttgart (Germany), 2013 – Pacific Palms (Australia), 2013 – Bergen op Zoom (Holland). He is a co-founder and Art Director of “100% Natural” International Cartoon Contest. George Licurici is a member of the Federation of Cartoonists Organizations (FECO) and co-founder of FECO-Romania. He is a producer of a broad casting cycle “Attempt at sadness”, and author of articles about the humour. Editor and contributor of many regional, national, and foreign publications.
