Robert Rousso was born in 1937 in Sete, south of France. He graduated at the Fine Arts School and at the Faculty of Arts of Montpellier. After his studies he has begun his career as a teacher of drawing. His artworks appeared in many newspapers and magazines in France and abroad. He is specialized mainly in humoristic illustrations of scientific topics (medicine, agronomical research, animated cartoons about agriculture, farming, nature and pollution). Robert Rousso exhibited his artworks in France and Europe: Shrewsbury (UK) 2005, “The best of French cartoonists” (as organizer too), Aschaffenburg (Germany) 2004, ”Happy as God in France”, Patras (Greece) 2005, “Masks and Politics”, Athens 2008 “Europe of 27”. He participated as Jury’s member at the International cartoon festival of Knokke-Heist (Belgium), “Eurohumor”, Cuneo (Italy), Dutch cartoon, Bergen op Zoom (Netherlands), and recently “Electromobil cartoon competition”, Berlin (Germany). Artworks by Robert Rousso have been awarded numerous prestigious prizes: France: Lussac St Emilion 1992 – 1st prize; St Just le Martel 2000 – Anti bad grub prize, 2007 – Public prize; Louviers 2002 – Public prize; Paris 2006 – I-expo Cartoon prize; Castelnaudary 2005, 2009 – Public prizes; Tourcoing 2011 – 1st prize; Belgium: St Hubert 1998 – Press prize), Ohlen 2013 – 2nd prize; Italy: Borgo San Dalmazzo 2006 – 3rd prize; Netherlands: Bergen op zoom 2007 – 3rd prize; Azerbaijan: Baku 2008 – Special award; Turkey: Istanbul 2008 – Aydin Dogan Award; Poland: Zielona Gora 2010 – Special award; Croatia: Zagreb 2010 – Special mention; Portugal: Sintra 2013 – 2nd prize; Luxembourg: Vianden 2013 – 1st prize. Robert Rousso has been the Secretary and founder of the French branch of FECO (FEderation of Cartoonists’ Organisations). He is a member of Cartoonists for Peace. Robert Rousso is living and working in Le Chesnay, France.
