Jiri Novak was born on 27th December 1952 in Kolin, in the former Czechoslovakia. His lifetime employment until 2013, was the work at Ceske drahy (Czech Railways), where he served as a wagon master. In addition to this occupation he began in 1980 together with Jaroslav Skoupy publish cartoons under the brand NOS. During the period of thirty-four years of their fruitful cooperation they published their cartoons in more than sixty newspapers and magazines. Among the most famous belongs Playboy magazine, for which they have been creating cartoons for over twenty years until today. They have won several awards at home and abroad and presented their work in numerous individual and collective exhibitions. In addition to many years of artistic collaboration with Jaroslav Skoupy, publishes Jiri Novak at the same time also his independent authorial creative work in the field of Cartoon art. He is also focused to illustrations of books and magazines, design of ads, greeting cards, etc. With his independent authorial work he participated at the international cartoon competitions at home and abroad and his artworks have been awarded several prestigious prizes. Jiri Novak is a member of the Czech Union of Cartoonists. He is living and working in Kolin, the Czech Republic.
