Zdenko Puhin was born in Zagreb in 1946. He has been working for daily newspapers and cartoon publications in Croatia and ex-Yugoslavia ever since. He has published his cartoons in most of the major newspapers in the country, as well as in the USA, Japan and Germany. Zdenko Puhin presented his creative work at individual cartoon exhibitions in Zagreb (1984, 1991), Koprivnica (1988, 1993) and Bjelovar (1993). His artworks won many prestigious prizes at the national and international cartoon festivals: Edinburg, England (Special Prize, 1987), Ljubljana, Slovenia (Special Prize, 1988), Slavonski Brod, Croatia (First Prize, 1990), Amstelveen, Netherlands (Second Prize, 1991), Daejeon, Korea ( Honorable Mention 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001), (Best Cartoon 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013), Bursa, Turkey (Special Prize 2003), Nanjing City, China (Special Prize 2004), Damask, Syria (Special Prize 2005, 2006), Solin, Croatia (Grand Prix, 2009), Turhan Selcuk Int. Cartoon Contest, Milas, Turkey (Special Prize 2011), Vinica, Makedonija (Special Prize, 2014), Urziceni, Romania (Special Prize, 2014). He has been a member of the Jury of the International cartoon competitions in Zagreb (Croatia), Skopje (Macedonia), Nasreddin Hoca (Turkey), and in Syria. Zdenko Puhin is a member of the Croatian Cartoonist Association, the former president of the Association and now its secretary for many years. He is living and working in Zagreb, Croatia.
